To optimize the Azure Consumption in an Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) deployment, you should include some Automation tasks to power-up or shutdown your resources on an effective way.
Ingram Micro Cloud has made a whole AVD Automated Deployment and Management Solution for you by making use of Virtual Machine Scale Sets (VMSS)

During this workshop, you will learn how to deploy, adapt and maintain an AVD installation by making use of Azure Virtual Machine Scale Sets (VMSS) technology.
The solution will provide the following benefits:
• Greatly simplified (software) life cycle management by (automatically) replacing existing AVD session hosts with new ones based on your latest central image.
• Simplified scaling, either based on a pre-set time schedule or dynamically based on real time resource usage.
• (optional) Support for Ephemeral storage, providing the fastest possible storage at no charge (provided the selected VM sizing has enough VM Cache space to host the central image).
